Markdown to Word converter.

Paste Markdown or drop a .md file, check the preview, and download a real Word document (.docx). It runs entirely in this page — your text is never uploaded.

Preview

The preview appears here once the converter has loaded.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

What it does

AI tools, code repositories and note apps hand out Markdown — a PLAN.md, a README.md, a spec someone pasted into a chat. Word does not open those as a formatted document. This converter turns the Markdown into a .docx with real Word headings, lists, tables and links, so it can be edited, commented on and sent like any other document.

The conversion happens in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored, and the page keeps working if you go offline after it loads.

How to convert Markdown to Word

  1. Add your Markdown. Paste it into the box, or drag a .md file onto it, or choose Open a .md file.
  2. Check the preview. It shows the structure Word will receive: headings, lists, tables and code.
  3. Choose Download .docx. The file is named after the file you opened, or after the first heading.
  4. Open it in Word, Pages or Google Docs. Headings use Word's built-in Heading 1–6 styles, so the navigation pane and an automatic table of contents work straight away.

What converts

  • Headings, paragraphs and line breaks
  • Bold, italic, strikethrough and inline code
  • Links, which stay clickable in Word
  • Bulleted and numbered lists, nested, with numbering that starts where yours does
  • Task lists, as ☑ and ☐ checkboxes
  • Blockquotes, indented with a rule
  • Fenced code blocks, in a monospaced font on a shaded background
  • Tables, including the header row and column alignment

Limits

  • Mermaid diagrams are not drawn. A ```mermaid block arrives as a code block.
  • Math is not typeset. LaTeX such as $E = mc^2$ arrives as the text you typed.
  • Images are not embedded. Each becomes a placeholder like [Image: logo] so you know where to insert it.
  • Raw HTML is dropped, keeping only its text. Footnotes and front matter are not given any special treatment.

Questions

Is my Markdown uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser with JavaScript. The text you paste and any file you drop stay on your device; there is no server step and nothing is stored.

Is the converter free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert.

Will the .docx open in Pages, Google Docs or LibreOffice?

Yes. The file is a standard Word document, so Microsoft Word, Pages, Google Docs and LibreOffice all open it. Headings use Word's built-in Heading styles, so the navigation pane and a table of contents work.

Why does my Mermaid diagram or math come out as plain text?

Mermaid diagrams and LaTeX math are not converted. A Mermaid block arrives as a code block and math arrives as the source you typed. Render diagrams to an image first if the Word document needs them.

What about images?

Images are not embedded. Each one is replaced with a placeholder such as [Image: logo], so you can see where to insert it in Word.
