The short version
nicemd does not collect, sell, or share your personal information. Your Markdown files are opened and read on your Mac. We never receive their contents.
The app
nicemd has no account, analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or telemetry. Preferences such as text size stay on your Mac.
Sending feedback from the Help menu composes an email in your own mail app, with your message and the app and macOS versions. nicemd never sends it — you do, and you see every word first.
The app and its Quick Look extension run in the macOS App Sandbox and can only read the files you open or preview.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. nicemd only learns whether you have bought the one-time editing unlock. It never receives your name, email address, or payment details.
Your documents and the web
nicemd never sends your documents anywhere. Syntax highlighting, diagrams, and math are bundled with the app and render offline.
If a document embeds an image hosted on the web, the reader loads it from that address, as a browser would. Links you click open in your default browser. Those sites have their own privacy practices.
Once a day at launch, nicemd asks Apple’s App Store whether a newer version is out, so it can tell you. The request carries the app’s own store id and nothing else — no account, no identifier, nothing about you or your documents — and the answer is a version number. Turn it off under Check for updates in Settings.
When you print, macOS may ask to look for printers on your local network.
The nicemd website uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies and does not identify you. The website does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

If this policy changes, the current version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
